Derek Malone-France is an Associate Professor of Religion, of Philosophy, and of Writing, at the George Washington University (GW), in Washington, DC.  He is also founding Co-Director of GW’s French Embassy Center of Excellence and a member of GW’s Academy of Distinguished Teachers—for which he served as Inaugural Chair (2012-2014). Derek’s research and teaching areas include: philosophy of religion, metaphysics and epistemology, the philosophical and religious implications of astrobiology and human space exploration, political and legal philosophy, political and religious rhetoric, and edu

Sheri Wells-Jensen

Sheri Wells-Jensen, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Department of English and coordinator of the minor in linguistics at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. Along with various aspects of issues pertaining to SETI and METI, her research interests include phonetics, braille, language preservation, TESOL (teaching English to speakers of other languages), language creation, and disability studies.

Laura Welcher

Laura Welcher, Ph.D. is a linguist with interests in the future of human communication, and how it will be mediated by technology. She is currently works at The Long Now Foundation where she is Director of Operations and The Long Now Library. One of the Long Now Library projects she has worked on the most extensively is The Rosetta Project, an effort to gather documentation on the world's nearly 7,000 languages, and create an archival backup of the collection—The Rosetta Disk—that can last and be readable for thousands of years, a purpose-built "Rosetta Stone" for the future.
